2015 1200 Multistrada Rear Wheel Left Side Nut Problem

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by haydenvn, Apr 4, 2022.

  1. hi. i need to clean and re grease the rear wheel axel . I have removed the nut holding the wheel on (with difficulty) but cannot move the sprocket side large nut. I have the correct socket and a long bar but no luck. Is it anti clockwise to undo or like cars with knock on wheels clockwise on the left side. Thought about heat but will use as a last resort. any help or advise would be grateful. cheers

  2. it's conventional anti-clockwise, are you getting a second person to help when using long bar?
A lot of us on here have resorted to an electric impact "wrench" for this, one by Clarke is pretty reasonably priced. I will add the links to Forum pages in a bit.

  3. I couldn't get mine off ....(common issue) ..ended up nipping in to local Ducati specialist ....he got it off with his air gun .....it took a bit with that too he then refitted it. When I got home was able to get it off with socket and extension bar. I bought a mains powered impact gun from Lidl which has no probs getting it off.

  4. as suggested borrowed an impact gun and it came straight off. now battling with the eccentric hub that is stuck.

  5. You'll find a few posts on here about that ....

  6. Make yourself 2 small, shallow angle wooden wedges to help open up the casing. A word of CAUTION though, don't try and open it more than 1 maybe 2 millimeters. Andy

  7. got the eccentric hub moving freely but still cannot get the wheel spindle out. Rubber hammer and a little heat did not work so tomorrow i will make a puller of some sort.

  8. Odd that it's moving freely but won't move sideways. I'll just say - you managed to remove the circlip ok...?

  9. eccentric hub now rotating ok using chain adjuster but wheel spindle that runs through it and needs to be knocked through from sprocket side so you can get to the circlip will not knock through.

  10. You removed the calliper?

  11. yes.I will check today to see if anything is stopping it on the disk side.
