V4 How Can I Confirm If Genuine V4r

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Tel, Apr 7, 2022.

  1. I've got the opportunity to buy an imported V4R which has some light damage from a crash.

Before I take the plunge, is there a way to confirm it's a genuine V4R?

It's come over from the US and has around 15k kms and probably needs around 4k of parts to make it mint again but not sure how much the value is affected by the fact that it's an import.

  2. If it’s from the US, why is the mileage in Km’s?

  3. Swingarm pivot is the easiest way at a glance!

  4. What should I be looking for on the swingpart pivot?

  5. Good point. Will double check where it's been imported from

  6. If I put my VIN in this site it correctly deciphers it's an 1100CC 2020 panigale V4. putting the VIN of your purchase in should yield the model and displacement (which would confirm the r)

That bike appears to be an S to me. Electronic suspension. Upgraded with R fairings for the wings. Maybe an 18 or 19 S?

  7. V4R did not have electronic suspension IIRC. Andy

  8. Thanks for the info. I’m a little out of touch with the specs of the latest Ducati’s so hadn’t clocked the suspension discrepancy.

Looks like I need to decide if it’s worth the effort and getting it on the road or leave this one alone.

  9. That is not an R- next!

  10. Id leave it unless it was a real bargain. 15k is not a lot but its enough to devalue it, that bike is an S.

  11. The battery has probably been disconnected. The default on reconnection is usually Km & KPH. Andy

  12. Chain is rusted tf and the rear sprocket looks knackered. IMO, walk away. Andy

  13. It’s an S.

leave it alone unless it’s dirt cheap. Which crashed bike never are these days.

  14. Thanks for all the advice and info.
guessing that the spec on v4s and v4r are the same regardless where the bike is from?

it’s up for £10-11k but that feels like a gamble now as there’s probably about £4K to sort it.

  15. its a 5k to 7k bike tops

  16. Something we all missed, V4R is a mono posta so no passenger footrests unlike the ones in the picture :joy: Andy

  17. I have recently sold a V4R which I owned from new and that is not as described. Walk away.

  18. As mentioned definitely not an r.

At a quick glance the r had a raw aluminium fuel tank

  19. This is a V4r
