950 Add Me To The Club Of Fuel Sensor Failure ...

  1. Just crossed 4000mi (6436km) mark on my 2020 950S ... the fuel gauge tank sensor or something related is now failing. The tank is near half full however the gauge indicates totally empty with the fuel warning light flashing and the fuel range is "---". Then it will change to around 1/4 full and no fuel warning light flashing ... then change back to empty. Sigh. Previous to this bike I had a 2018 950 was faultless.

So add me to the list of folk whom have suffer this. The bike is under warranty so it will get fixed in due course. Not a great disaster as I use the trip odometer for keeping track of fuel usage.

  2. Same here. Bought used two weeks ago and not a mention from the dealer, which is handy when sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

In this week, so see how much 'goodwill' I can get. I personally can't wait to remove the tape blanking the dash light, which is annoying.

I would also add, as much as an often recommended (and obvious) check of the trip meter works, we shouldn't have to.

  3. Had mine replaced under warranty today after 4500 miles.

Mechanic admitted he’s done a few of those.

  4. Mines gone too , this the now the fourth  And yes it was the 'new' model

  5. I think I had mine replaced twice on my 2013 1200S in a year, and I'm on my second on my 2017 Enduro. It's now lasted about 18 months and roughly 10,000 miles, so it's probably overdue to fail!

As others have said, I've tended to find my trip counter to be my useful way of calculating range to zero. Returning from Scotland last year I think I squeezed something like 320 miles out of a tank, and filled it with 30.4 litres, so I suspect that petrol station pumps aren't as accurate as they could be, or the Enduro tank is slightly bigger than the advertised 30 litres.

  6. Mine failed on my 2018 1260S a couple of weeks ago, at 10K miles and I bought it just before Ducati started the 4 year warranty on Multistradas.
Had news this morning from my dealer that Ducati will replace the sender FOC but I will have to stump up for the labour

  7. Had mine done too, started going at around 11000 and was dead by 11750. The dealer paid for the part but the labour cost around £130 IIRC. I was surprised to find the sender only costs around 80 quid, I had guessed it would be the usual few hundred. If it goes again I'll be fitting it myself. If you don't mind stripping the panels, I'd just get the part and fit it yourself.
