Hey guys, Saw some topics on this, but was a bit more in the past, and some of the recommended ones are no longer on ebay. I was wondering what do you recommend in terms of frame sliders? Or maybe just engine covers? I haven't dropped a bike in years, but if I'm going to drop it and it's going to be this one, that would suck big time. The bike that I have right now was dropped already by one of the previous owners, but thankfully nothing got damaged, other than snapping off one of the limiter bolts near the triple. I heard once that is snapped, and if you drop again, the handlebars will no longer protect from touching the fairings, so I need to be extra careful about that I suppose
You need this ( or similar) to protect your lock stops: https://www.motorcycleraceparts.co.uk/spider-steering-lock-stops-ducati-panigale-v4-1299-1199-899
Thanks for the link, I'm actually not too familiar with this part, but at Ducati dealer I was quoted that it would cost 600 for the part to fix what was snapped off, so is this an alternative for that, or I still need to replace that OEM part? I'll need to have a better look when I'm at my bike.
Don’t use frame sliders. Often cause more damage than they save. Engine covers (GB Racing of R&G) plus fork bobbins much better option. R&G do a cheap lock stop protector (for 959, not sure on 899) but you can’t really use steering lock with them on.
Any thoughts if the engine covers + fork bobbins + bar ends is enough to prevent/minimize fairing damage if the bike is tipped over? (stationary or slow moving)
The only stuff to protect your bar ends and fairing if bike falls over would be large crash bars. As seen on a BMW GSA or the like.
I have the R&G lock stops on mine and I can use steering lock, but its a 1299. Evotech do the brake and clutch protectors and they have abrasive ends. Good quality too. The GB racing covers are good solid pieces of kit. Their brake and clutch protectors arent as good as the evotech. They use the expanding collet, which may split your bars like the sato racing ones did to mine. The evotech use the same screw in fixing as the oem bar ends.
