1260 Tire Calibration Wont Work - Failed

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Mr.Procam, Jun 15, 2022.

  1. I changed tires (to normal sizes) and changed final ratio (front and rear sprockets) to 14/43 (I know maybe it is too much, but it is a test only, hovewer i like it :) ...) But i have a problem: i tried lot of times to "Tire calibration" (from dashboard menu) but the result is always "Failed". (No error message, all other functions ((ABS, DTC...)) looks like working, so i think the sensors ok...). The tire calibration starting normally, "Ready", after "In progress" - but the result is always "Failed" :( (i always did it in 2. gear and stable 50 km/h of course. Earlier i went 15/43 final ratio without this "calibration failed" problem.)
Does anyone have an idea or experience what could be wrong? Thanks a lot! Tire calibration.JPG

  2. If you go back to 15/43 and the issue disappears then you’ve solved the problem. You may well have exceeded the available working parameters that the bike can calibrate.

  3. Was the speed on your dash or on your satnav? If you changed the sprocket ratio the speedo may be out a little.

  4. Changed to 14/40 and it calibrated fine. As Shoboshi says, looks like you maybe out off acceptable range of adjustment if switching towards an OEM ratio solves it.

  5. I often have this faff on my Panigale V4S (track only) after a tyre change. Almost always end up sacking it off after 10 seconds or so and just gunning it!! That’ll learn the pesky tyre calibration!!

  6. Maybe your shifter has died , mine did when I changed the sprocket size.( though not because of it I don’t think)
The tyre calibration process didn’t fix it
    Fitting a new one did

  7. Thanks to all for ideas and help. I went back to 15/43 and "tire calibration" and quick shifter working properly again. So i can confirm the 14/43 is out of tire calibration range. :(

  8. Hello! I installed a 14 front sprocket on the 950 Multistrada but kept the 43 rear sprocket. The calibration fails and the quickshifter only works up. Does anyone know if configuration 14 and for example 42 will work? Or 15/45?

  9. Have you tried going a bit slower than 50? Or tried calibrating in third gear in lieu of?

  10. I thought about it, but I'm not sure it could work. After all, the system sees speed and gear.

  11. Hello! Is this really supposed to work?

  12. IDK. It's just a suggestion as the OP significantly changed the gearing. Can't hurt to try.

  13. Understood! Thank you!

  14. I tried to move at a lower and higher speed, tried 3rd gear - but the unit cannot be fooled, it does not allow calibration in such modes. By the way, I pass the calibration, but the quickshifter does not work down.
