1260 Getting 12v Output After Ignition

  1. Hello everybody

Long story short, my dashcam gets screwed up when I crank the bike. The way it's wired now is that it sits on 12V output from the charging port. Starts up fine but the temporary cut off when the bike fires up, messes with it and it stops recording. So, I was wondering if there is an easy/clean way of getting 12V output as soon as the bike fires up and not before that. My understanding is that there are two ways of achieving this: either have the dashcam on the battery behind a relay and let it turn on by getting a 12V input to the relay (small amperage) or get high amperage (it's PSU needs 2A) by stealing from a wire like the one feeding the headlights (which turn on as soon as the bike is fired up).

Is there any switched output like that that is easily accessible? I would like to avoid hurting cables if at all possible. What are my options?

    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

  2. Tried that in the past and half the time I would forget to switch it on or off :joy:
