I am now sure that what it really needed, and eventually got, was a valve service and TPS reset. Crank position sensor (£80 new) £30 Reg/Rec (£130 new) £50 “Those two relays under the tank” £10 HT coil (£116 new) £50 Alt stator (£125 new) £50 LHS HT lead, brand new £10 The power plugs on the stator & the reg/rec look fine with no signs of overheating Totals £200, will take £175 if you have the lot !!
