The pre release pictures show that it uses a lot of SC parts - most notably it is shod with Michelin Classic tyres - so I guess we will be able to buy them off the shelf again (if we want to of course) , wheels, horns, headlamp and the entire rear swingarm look awfully familiar too - new parts for the SC have suddenly become more available then! Shame the couldn't have used the 1000cc DS lump.

Not my cup of tea but I'm sure they'll sell a couple....literally. is it a scrambler though? Or is that just something they've historically called it?
As much a scrambler as the Triumph Scrambler. Lots of fins on the front cylinder to catch mud in & not bash plate. I'd have one as a shopping/town bike :smile:
Hmmm. Looking at the photograph again it does seem a bit of a 'Photoshop Special'. The tank and seat do not seem to align or sit properly on the frame and wouldn't they fit dual-purpose tyres on it as we know how badly those Michelin Classics work when it gets slightly damp? Maybe someone (in Ducati) took some SC elements and pasted them together in order to test the waters? But then again what do I know? I find it hard to believe Ducati would launch a retro scrambler when the retro roadster/cafe racer market must be much bigger...and yet they torpedoed the SC/GT which would be relativity easy to relaunch with a few modifications. Basically I cannot believe the Ducati is that interested unless they now realise their mistake over the SC/GT and are using the Scrambler to test the waters and launching a 'softer' (much more akin to the Triumph Bonneville/Thruxton) roadster / cafe racer based around the 800cc engine.

Spot on Antonye... I should have waited to read the article as before commenting - yup 100% Photoshop... so the parts of the Scrambler (if it ever happens) are unlikely to be SC/GT bits...shame.

I cant see the attraction with these sudo classic things, Its just a mock tudor house on 2 wheels. Anyway don't "Scramblers" have knobbly tyres.
I reckon they'll use the Hyper as the base and and give it a scrambler look , high pipe, knobbly tyres, bobed raised front fender, spoked wheels etc.. I have a feeling it mat not be retro but a modern interpretation, a bit like the Husqvarna MOAB.
I'd be an awful lot more interested if they built a road bike with good looks, light weight and fine handling, a comfy semi-prone riding position, fairing and maybe 110bhp, instead of fannying about with retros.
