Been doing this for years. Fairings, Visors, whatever. Soaking wet cloth or kitchen towel 3-4 minutes. Then wipe away the bugs Gently dry off with a microfiber cloth and no scratches whatsoever.
After removing bugs & allowed to dry. Then spray furniture polish on visor allowing it too semi-dry & then buff off lightly. This provides water displacer layer so water rains off faster.
A quicker way is to use a bit of Doktor Power/Flash Magic Eraser sponge (must be wet) and tap water. Scrub away then dry with a microfibre cloth. No scratches. I've been doing this since 2007 and not scratched a single visor using this method. Works on fairings too.
'Bugs be gone', more like 'Bugs, where have they gone?' I did 500 miles around North Wales last weekend and hardly needed to clean them off!
That’s something I’ve noticed for a while now. A few years back I’d empty the screen wash bottle quite a few times a through the summer, now it’s once or twice throughout the summer.
Tend to only get a big bug strike in the centre of my visor shortly after riding off from a stop where I've just cleaned the detritus from the previous one.
