Happy Wife… Happy Life !

  1. So did a few little bits on the bike for the Boss yesterday and today. First up was swapping the modified stand from her 748 over to the 848. This needed a little hole drilling into it for side stand switch but that was taken care of in no time. I had a little peg welded on as she always battled to flick the stand out from being tucked up under the fairing. Looks a little daft but does the job. Original 848 stand safely put away.

Today we went on a 100 mile brekkie run and coastal trip, bike performed faultlessly and ran like a Swiss watch. It did become apparent we need fork seals asap though.. don’t fancy oily brakes :astonished:

Bike is very very clean without so much as a stone chip but I always go that little bit extra. Zorsts got a quick lick of autosol to clean up a bit more, they will be sorted properly over the winter when I do forks etc.

Paint was like glass but screen was covered in micro scratches from years of wiping clean. Out came the DA polisher and did the screen and tank. Just went with a single cut Menzerna and the finish is like glass.

Clutch fluid was a little dark for my liking so a nice flush with Pagid dot 4 and it looks fresh again.

So apart from fork seals and a lazy battery it’s in fine fettle and adored by Mrs Slingy. She already asked me what the deal was with mileage and if we were going to try keep it low, hell no.. use the thing like it’s intended for !! It seems the street triple may be sitting around for a while

anyways as always, have some pics… in no particular order as they always get jumbled up :grinning:

  4. I can never understand women that get pissed off when blokes spend their hard earned money on things that make them happy. I’ve been with my wife for nearly 23 years, and she never has a problem with me enjoying my spoils. As long as it’s in proportion.

  5. Hopefully a fresh set of seals and oil will sort it, I don’t mind a little damp tell tale line around the shock, but dripping off the fork leg isn’t the one

  6. Bike has done a sniff under 11k now and did around 1000 miles a year. All good things come to an end I guess. No big drama to sort, well apart from the fact I detest doing forks :laughing:

  7. Alas the version I married isN’t like that. At all.

    You’re not buying another bike.
    You’re not going racing.
    You’re not…….
No idea why she bothers. I do anyway.

  14. Cool enough .... I agree
..... but for me it just doesn't trump that pair above .

Simply flashing stacks of cash counts for very little in my book .

A very personal opinion , of course ..... :)

  15. Thanks ! It wasn’t deliberate that we ended up with matching bikes and get a fair bit of stick for it too o_O.

It was worse when we both rode the 748 & 996 which again wasn’t deliberate. I bought the 748 which I loved, but won a cheap 996 on eBay one night after a few bevvies. The plan was to sell the 748, but Mrs Slingy went for a ride on it and that was the last I saw of it :joy:. So rocking up to bike meets together got some serious stick from mates etc. I’m about as thick skinned as they come so couldn’t give a rats arse what anyone says or thinks … didn’t bother me one ounce. 748 will be getting sold at some point so it’s a little less silly now the bikes are not identical :imp:

All our other bikes are very different from each other so only on occasions I may take the 996 out but often I’m one of the more comfortable of the fleet :D
