St4s Chain And Sprocket Help

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Rubbertoe, Oct 18, 2022.

  1. Hello, have 15T on front and 38 standard on rear. Ride height was adjusted by previous owner. Rides lovely but chain eats top chain slider. And has eaten fastener heads that hold it on. I have read that going up to 42t on rear solves the issue so that’s what I’m going to do. Question is How long will chain need to be ? How many links etc. think the standard is 102…. Some say needs to be 104 ? Any advice please very much appreciated

  2. Ps it’s a 2002 st4s

  3. I put a 42 tooth rear sprocket on the ST4s that I had but can't remember what length chain I used. However, logically if you increase the rear sprocket by 4 teeth then a chain 2 links longer (4 pitches) will leave the distance between the sprockets unchanged.
