Hi all, I've got an ex race 899 that I'm considering re-roading rather than selling. It's currently got the abs disconnected - the pump is still there, but lines run straight from MC to calipers, and the ABS light is on the dash. My assumption is that if I connect up the lines correctly, and plug it back in (assuming it's been disconnected from the electrics) then it'll just start working, won't need any coding or anything. Anyone done similar? Any other thoughts?
mine has abs decommissioned, its sort of on my list to get done, but the more i ride the more i dont miss it one of the criticism s of the 899 was the vagueness of the brakes caused by all the extra plumbing and the pump as the are they are sharp
The abs warning should go once it’s plugged back in. The system doesn’t recognise if the lines are connected or not but will recognise the abs pump is unplugged as it’s part of the bike’s can network.
Cheers for the input; I was looking to recommission it for 3 reasons really; interest, passing an MOT, saving my clumsy ass in the wet. Interesting - as far as I can tell, the pump is still connected electrically, and the rear lines still go through it while the front ones are blanked off. I'd assumed the ABS light on the dash was related to the bike knowing that no pressure/fluid is going through the front ABS ports - previous racer owner just covered the light with some black insulating tape, which I think was a relatively standard Trioptions Cup approach!
