Now that I've got the 'ol Darmah up and running I'm starting to pay attention to the tyre pressures. They are radial Conti Classic/Road Attacks but they don't really give recommended pressures. So I've set them to the pressure recommended in the Ducati manual i.e. 29 & 35. But are I'm not entirely sure these pressures are relevant for modern tyres and a quick cruise of the web show others are running their pressures higher (but not necessarily on Ducatis) at around 34 & 38. So is there a rule of thumb of what you should be aiming for wrt hot & cold pressures. I mean in terms of percentage increase perhaps i.e. 10% greater when warm. And/Or are we perhaps looking for the hot pressures to be the same in both tyres? Do I know what I am doing?
It's about +10% front and + 15% to 20% Rear PSI increase cold to hot, depending on how hard you ride.
You wouldn't happen to have a link? I've spent ages looking for them but I'll be buggered if I can find any reference to pressures.
Creamy is about right. But it can depend on personal preference and other factors like weight (bike and rider). Eg many Ducati manuals say 42 rear….I never run more than 38 rear and tend to be 32 front. Pretty much all non-hyper sports bikes/tyres.
Aha! we're getting there. Page 8 only provides information for the front tyre i.e. Classic Road Attack 3 (100/90, 18') & it gives a recommended pressure of 2.1 - 2.2 bar / 30 - 32 psi. But it gives no info for the Classic Attack (120/90, 18') rear. Lord know how you managed to ferret that info out mind... there does seem to be an inordinate amount of diverse web sites all for Continental tyres. Top man!
Ooo, got all excited then when I found a product spec for the Classic Attack rear but it gives no pressure information. https://blobs.continental-tires.com...produktdatenblatt-conticlassicattack-data.pdf And it's page on tyre pressures just says "During normal day-to-day riding on the road, your motorcycle manufacturers recommended tyre pressure should give you a good mix of grip and stability". See https://www.conti-bike.co.uk/tyre-tech-talk/motorcycle-tyre-pressure/
I might well end up doing that but the Classic Road Attack 3 is confusingly listed as a "classic racing" compound and hence details are in the racing tyre catalogue. Whereas the rear Classic Attack is a different tyre with possibly a different compound. I must admit I'm thinking I may be getting just a touch too anal and would probably not even notice the difference if was running at 20 or 40 psi... Ho hum.
Does any of the information in this link help? Tom. http://www.conti-bike.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Continental-Motorcycle-Tires-Racing-Flyer.pdf
Well.... it does mention the ContiRoadAttack 2 CR with the same recommended pressures as for my ContiRoadAttack 3 CR. But, again no mention of the rear non comp Classic Attack. It seems they have recommended pressure for their race/comp tyres but not for their road tyres and this information can be found in a seemingly large array of different places and different documents.
