Had an engine warning light flash up at Snetterton, turns out it's the rear O2 sensor so rather than replacing (at £220 for the part!!!) I'm thinking now's the time to have the bike tuned and the sensor's disabled as part of the tune. Looking for recommendations of where people to go for ECU dyne tuning, I'm based in Farnborough, Hampshire but don't mind travelling if worth the trip. Have used Steve Jordan for Suspension before and have already sent an email to enquire about price and availability
An update for this thread. Took the bike to Chris at CJS Racing on Friday and had a very successful time. His knowledge is incredible and we had a long discussion over the benefits of his approach to tuning using EGT individual cylinder mapping vs the standard exhaust probe method. I also happened to mention the huge gains that seem to be made with the 1299 and he shut these down as complete bull. Ducati have built into the map a richening of the fuel mix at high rpm in top gear and actually state that if you dyno the 1299, you need 200mph of wind. The way to get around this is to disable the wheel speed sensor. So in his view, this is why you see 1299s making 170ish on the before and then these huge 20-25hp gains after the map when the before figure would have more than likely been 180-185hp. So yeah, in terms of trust, knowledge and results, I can't recommend Chris highly enough. Bike made 193hp obviously at the wheel and that's with the stock exhaust which Chris was very satisfied with. Good going for a stock bike with just over 23k on the clock. To add icing on top, he also updated the throttle maps so med is the old high and high is now a 1:1 Ducati Corsa map, dropped the fan temp a couple of degrees AND has uploaded the EVO software. Can't recommend enough.
I may need to give Chris another visit. He did my 1198. My 1299 could use his expertise. That has full akra.
Only thing I didn't like was fitting the lambda mapping sensors, Chris was going to drill the headers to put in a rivot nut as he couldn't get his mapping sensor in the original position, which meant putting in a 2 blanking bolts. But me being me I had a 2' lever bar in the van which meant I could lever the header away enough for Chris to get his sensors in. So put lambda sensors back in original holes and no blanking plugs, disconnected lambda wires or bend pin in plug so still looked original to dealerif you have warranty.!
