1098 Thinking About A 1098r

  1. Hey everyone,

Thinking about adding a 1098R to the collection. What are everyone's experiences who are current/former owners? Anything to look out for?

Any and all info would be much appreciated!

  2. Go for it! A brute.

  3. IIRC, the US spec model came with a 70mm half system as well. Andy

  4. I would ask what do you want it for .
it’s still one of the best looking bikes I own but to ride it’s a bit of a pig. The engine is massive and best described a pretty brutal if you press on. more modern bikes with all the fancy electrics make things smoother and easier.
Suspension is the same, firm is being kind to it.
Its the last of the hairy arsed big bore bikes Ducati made and feel like it to ride. on a smooth racetrack with slicks I imagine it’s brilliant.

  5. Do it. Take it to a race circuit and ride it as intended :):upyeah:

  6. Don't bother with the OEM traction control - it's completely shite.

  8. very few private sales now sadly, although you might prefer Trade anyway, and from recent experience, an increasing amount of private sellers aren't much different to deal with anyway!

  9. Thought the OP lived in the US ? Andy

  10. I have a line on two locally. One with 2300 miles with all the original accessories except for the indoor cover, and one with 5000 miles with no accessories.

That being said, someone with a D16RR emailed me last night... :astonished:

  11. 1098R all day long, D16RR is a money pit and very specialised servicing requirements. Andy

  12. I still might get away with a generalisation there.. but other than that, 15 love to you Andy, as always. :kissing_heart:

  13. I had one and sold it a couple of years ago, I bought a V4R. I regretted selling the 1098R so much that I bought a 1098R Bayliss rep autumn last year. I love the Evoluzione and Testastretta engines, they're great to do your own servicing on and I think they're a fabulous bike. Beautiful to look at but you do have to 'ride' them; grab the bull by the horns and boss it the best you can. Great feeling though!
