I’m currently working/living away, only got my phone so the use of emoji’s is very hit or miss but very much miss.
Pondering the latitude myself. That and the nivala but not sure which to go for. Planning on getting heated kit so less bothered about the lack of liner. Not sure I need the more expensive nivala but could do with trying latitude to check the cuffs thing isn’t an issue. Can’t decide between the two but the latitude seems a great suit. 2 layer goretex vs 3 layer on the nivala. Wonder if that makes a big difference.
I ride around wales a lot so have been in some fairly evil/extended downpours, it doesn’t wet out or thru. I am sure the extra layer would be better if you are doing multi-days/all day motorways in solid rain but I try and avoid that so I can’t comment - it’s way better than every other jacket I have had, but have never had a rukka.
I have one of these It is around five years old now. Completely waterproof. Done around 60,000 miles in it. Never washed, the rainjust beads off. Apparently the front zips are suspect on them. Mine though, lucky…or just keyboard warriors opinions? In hot weather it is hot. It really could do with more than the waist zips and rear vent zips. That said zero up to thirty degrees it is excellent. Mid thirties and above it becomes uncomfortable. I may be in the market for a replacement but only to incorporate an airbag system (for added safety) and must have laminated Goretex again, as it works so well.
I’m not considering Rukka, I had a suit, it failed in the crotch, my wife has a suit, the zip is suspect. My much cheaper BMW Enduroguard has been more reliable, the Klim Marrakesh I own is excellent, hence the interest in a latitude.
I can't answer for the Latitude but I switched from Rukka to Klim several years ago now and got the Badlands jacket and trousers. My original jacket is still going strong, it's probably done 40k over the years in everything from 35 in Germany to -5-10 in Norway. I also had one of there 2-layer goretex trousers and they lasted 4-5 years but have failed around the crotch. I used them as over trousers when commuting. The badlands trousers lasted till last year and failed in the same way. I elected to replace with a new set of the same rather than test the warranty. I'd melted a little of the lower leg on an exhaust at some point. I picked up the Marrakesh this year, had a zip fitted, which is much better to ride on the 1198 with. Recently I've been experimenting with layering on it. Windproof below, Oxford Railseal Pro (Klims are just to pricey) above. It's cooler than the badlands in summer when moving and I was using it up to late October. Edited to add. No Zip failures on the Klim yet. Had them frequently on the Rukka especially the cuffs.
The deviation issue is bloody frustrating when someone is just looking for some solid advice or considering the same. Common theme unfortunately.
IMHO Rukka warm but not so well vented as Klim or held carese. I m not so bothered about warm as I use a heated jacket layers of cold + a Scott waterproof but if the weather is warm u are stuck without hood venting Buy with space for an airbag as after 30 yrs in A$E airbags is far superior to any armour. My gear is belstaff for wineter Marrakesh for summer just got a held carese evo It’s worth going somewhere to try on several jackets Motolegends usually have a great stock if convenient
Sportsbikeshop also carry lots of Klim gear and you can order whatever you want either to home or to the store to try on. They also have the 3 layer goretex on sale for a similar price to the Latitude right now. I would advocate 3 layer over 2 layer if affordable.
As many can't comment on Latitude, however I too have a Badlands suit (Jacket and Trousers) which I have been using for 5 years and love and bought a Induction Pro for the summer last year which is just brilliant. My only complaint in the Badlands is the lack of cuff zip, you cannot get heated gloves under the cuff. So I would consider this for 4 season ririding with the latitude. For this reason alone, I've been thinking of upgrading to the Kodiak jacket. Balands Kit has kept me dry in all sorts of weather. Well vented in the summer too, the only very minor issue I have has is that the velcro on the lower pockets has torn off. I also have a KLIM air vest which again I can honestly say is the dogs danglies (though fortunately I have never had to trigger it!).
Oops pic of my Kodiak cuff for info. It’s not got a zip (Kodiak mk2 may differ) so difficult to get winter gloves under
New models have a cuff zip! But £2100 for a new suit is a hard call for 3 winter months in heated gear!
Got mine for much less in sales think it was about 500 for the jacket (couple of years ago) though stock shortages can make that option a bit hit/miss on Klim gear and it’s usually old(er) versions about to be replaced/updated & limited sizes
It's proper Stadler kit, it's just not the best suit they make. What you have to realise about Motolegends is that the twat in the hat is a pure salesman and he only sells what he thinks he can - which is fine most of the time but not if you want the very best of sometning (unless it happens to coincide with what he wants to sell).
Gave up on all this angst several years ago. I wear my comfy and ancient Dainese leather jacket (with or without removable lining) all year round and if it’s tipping down, I throw a Held Waterblock waterproof overjacket on. Toured in that biblical rain last September and was dry as a bone. Not sure how old my laminated Gortex trousers are but I have re proofed them a couple of times in the washing machine and they have not let anything through. Andy
Curious Mac.... surely Stadler gear is Stadler gear, how/why would (is) it any different from Motolegends?
