Smith V Eubank Jr

  1. Anyone watch the gloves are off show?
    Just watched it, very funny.
I actually think it’ll be close than people/the bookies think.

Beefy saying he could take losing to most fighters but not him because he’s a prick is also exactly the kind of content I enjoy watching (and I LOVED his dad as a fighter).

First decent fight of 2023 incoming :upyeah:

  2. So who do you see winning?

  3. it’s had to look beyond CEJ but for the sake of “controversy” I’ll say Beefy on points :)

  4. Really? I expect a close fight with the opposite result!

I think either could win, but Eubanks chose Smith and I expect the team have done their probability homework. Eubanks is the bigger guy too and thats usually a factor in closely matched fighters -big one typically wins.

  5. Yeah, I've always though Eubank Snr was a seriously good boxer. A real tough class act.

Don't know much about Smith and from what I recall of the little I've seen of Jr he's strong, works hard & has weight of punch. I'm not so sure of his ring craft mind. And I see Smith was a world champ (in 2016) but hasn't done much since then and trash talking may give a clue. It did surprise me that both fighters are in their 30s so we can't use age as a guide. A wild guess is that if Eubank has recovered from trying to make the weight for the aborted Benn fight then he'll come out on top on points.

And talking of Benn this is how it should be done:

  6. Christ was it really 32 years ago?

  7. Exactly how old CEJ is :thinkingface::thinkingface::joy:

  8. I think that’s why we all watch the boxing right?

    “Chat shit, get banged”
    Etc….

What a finish from Liam :)

  9. Don’t rate Eubank jnr

  10. Jr claims Liam got lucky with a punch, from what I watched of it he got beat by the better man on the night.

  11. I think the general consensus is smith was 2-1 up before the KO.
Found it a bit weird Roy jones jr banging on about Ali to CEJ in the corner when he was blowing out of his arse, not sure what he expected that to achieve.
Another noise he could have probably done without.

  12. Surprised at the manner & round of the defeat. Looking at the highlights (too cheap to pay for Sky) Eubank looked a little leaden and although Smith's flurry of punches didn't seem that powerful they proved to be too much for him.

  13. There was a great left uppercut followed by a left hook that did him for the first knock down

  14. I have seen better fights in school playgrounds lol. It was shit.

  15. Think people underestimate how tough he is tbh, let’s not forget he’s fought the very best in Canelo.
Think CEJ got found out big time it wasn’t a fluke and he certainly didn’t inherit the family chin.
Talk of a rematch at Anfield already. Would prefer to see him not get drawn into all those trilogy fights , especially at his age.

  16. Looks pretty definitive to me, Congrats to Smith.

Will Eubanks farewell fight be the rematch?

  17. I can’t be arsed typing what I’ve already written when messaging my son, so I’ll just upload the screenshot

  18. Time for the boy to hang them up, the talent’s just not there & the fact that his dad could do it doesn’t mean the lad can. Must be obvious to everyone now

  19. I notice the first message was regarding any effects on Jnr getting down to 157 lbs for the Benn fight. He was 158 lbs for this fight and I reckon he just underestimated the effect on him off that loss, he has fought at 167 lbs, along with underestimating the power of Smith.

And overestimated his ability to deal with both.
