  1. So with my new v2 streetfighter ordered and hopefully ready to collect early April. Do I try sell my 848 streetfighter beforehand and suffer the head scratching, tyre kicking private buyer,or simply px.
Pros/Cons> will probably make a extra grand or so over px ! or just save myself all the agro and take the hit financially and let the dealers take the profit.
theres also the danger of possible thief's taking a look at my security ect.with the intention of stealing the bike..dilemma or not? Think I've convinced myself to px.

  2. If you have time, doesn’t cost much to list something. You may get lucky.

Tip: if putting on here add the DF premium: they hate a bargain on here and love paying over the odds ;)

  3. tricky one this, normally I'd say private but having spoken to nothing but total be**ends regarding buying my R1, I would say dealer and take a wash on it. Although, you would have got a better trade in if you had done it as part of the purchase of the Streetfighter potentially.

I hope the Streetfighter V2 delivers what you want! :)

  4. Just place a advertisement for the pair and see how you get on, why give all your money to the dealer.

  5. I left it at a open deal regarding px so still got some wiggle room

  6. Take bike to a neutral place if selling privately away from prying eyes

  7. For £1000 -why wouldn't you give it a whirl?

To avoid the wannabe, no hope, tyre kicker, buyers, price it competitively and it will probably sell quickly. Price it to the max you would ever get, and deal with loads of fools and maybe no sale at the end of it.

Re security, I put a note in the ad that 24 hour notice must be given to view as its kept in storage.

  10. Double edged sword this. I would never buy something private away from someone’s home. Especially if this expensive. But equally I have asked buyers to meet me somewhere like a local petrol station then if buying follow me home. It’s a faff tho: not sure how many get nicked after giving an address and how much is the irrational fear factor

  11. Always secured in a safe, dry condensation free garage in my ownership

Kind of gives the scroats a warning to pass while saying it’s well looked after

  12. Just trade it in, no hassle or doubt that way. So many time wasters out there, I’ve even had friends say “let me know when you’re selling” only to piss about when the time comes, so I genuinely can’t be arsed.

  13. I sold my v4 on here no problem and had others interested. Buyer bought with just pictures and a video although it was cleaner than new.
    Worth giving it a go.

  14. Well it's 50/50 on the vote might try sell on this site,my other small issue is the m.o.t does run out at the end of March
,so that could potentially be the deal breaker to px..

  15. i use my local bike dealer motor cycle mart in kidderminster, they will sell for a small premium.i just say a price im happy with and let them list and display. i have done this 4 times and its great. no nob heads coming round talking bollocks andlooking where you keep your bikes
plus they can offer finance and a short warranty if the buyer requires

  16. I did this petrol station thing. I ended up getting dragged into the ditch, gang arse raped and sent on my way. Same thing happened two nights later and twice the following Saturday. No luck…. :astonished:

  17. If it’s clean enough it will sell itself , when I sold my streetfighter the buyer never quibbled over the asking price. Got over a grand over trade in price. Advertise it on this forum , The streetfighter had a quite short production run and will be a future classic imo.

  19. @bradders
A little story for you when i sold my third or perhaps the last Fireblade, it was advertised on Autotrader or MotorCycle News back in the late nineties, i meet the chap in Oxted highstreet in a bus pulling area right outside the building society, i was in the Transit van, placed the scaffold board at the rear and wheeled out the motorcycle, frog-marched him into the BS with the cash, then released the goods.
Looking back, that looked very suspicious from any outsiders eyes all day long.

  20. Don't forget if you list it here you'll need to be aware of the current value of Wotsits some people really try it on with low ball offers , I've seen . . I'll give you a couple of bags mate . . which is frankly taking the piss.
