1098r - Does anyone know the history of the one for sale at Moto Rapido? £19995 with 7K miles on it. Loads of track/race parts but is mint.... I ma looking to buy it but don't want to buy a dog
This one? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285043499973?hash=item425deaa3c5:g:Or0AAOSw8Ptjd8~r&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAAwOz+rw1POne0q9N46HQdAMnHHsqWrI906EHc7yRTTnxUHkUOxuoClJDsurQBHPfQ0pXwH4rXMeduReLNUhhJUIoPALzPwNro/OrjexW6FL8u0MUgLvTFE7XaSTT4rPjuAulPP4WHWXoaqeJOSQcmrkeFHgaYPm64HJshu7ClFX4qO6ktSpaX1oFUCEVf5QNkigzKv9mJptMZKTrr7d4yn6/jFxJG+FlIm1idzalU+GunVqM84RXUPrBE+XUKzfZf9g==|tkp:Bk9SR_r1tM3iYQ Appears mostly standard apart from rear sets, K-Tech cartridges and full system.
Yes that’s it, also has aftermarket quick shifter with race gear shift that’s not reversible. Also has lockwired rear sprocket carrier and quick action throttle
@Docsnugs, I have walked past this bike quite a few times since it was taken in but know nothing about it or its history. I’ll probably be popping in to the shop towards the end of next week and I’m happy to talk to the guys to see if there is more information to be had. Andy
Thanks Andy, I have seen it twice. They told me the last couple of owners are highly unlikely to have tracked it, but earlier than that it’s unknown. MOT checker says around 300 miles in last 5 years
Many 1098Rs were used as track bikes, mine included. Not necessarily a bad thing as they are usually very well maintained and over-serviced.
Not really, there weren’t many used and lots of people go for a bit of ‘factory’ lock wiring on the hub as those bolts do vibrate undone (personal experience with a 996) Re the bike, if you like it, it’s what you consider to be around the right price, has good history and is clear of the usual things, why not go for it There have been a couple on here over the last couple of years with full rebuild, thousands spent, and for some reason didn’t make anywhere near that price
not sure if this is same bike possibly returned after another 3k of mileage - might have some more pics to confirm additional features but only visible here are "carbon" instrument top panel and double-bubble. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/so-what-have-you-done-today.494/page-3998#post-1951096
@Chris, for a long while, there were two 1098Rs for sale in the showroom. My failing memory is telling me one was sold at the end of last year. Andy
No, Docsnugs said he knew enough about the history so I didn't bother. I'm back there early June with 4 bikes for service so can ask if you'd like. Andy
