Unbelievably I've owned this for 25 years! For one reason or another I haven't ridden it since 2012 when I bought a Multistrada (now sold). Last summer I replaced the floor in my workshop and put it out on the patio, my best mate called round and said "keeping that covered up in your workshop and not riding it is like keeping a supermodel in your bedroom and never sha66ing her!" So to celebrate getting my first pension payment tomorrow I got it MOT'd yesterday. Lovely to get out on it again - apart from my left wrist............. Let's see how we get on this summer.
Or sha66 it like you stole it, your choice here, really. Congratulations on a long term relationship !
If you had shagged the supermodel you wouldn't have done your wrist in! Lovely bike it's nice to think it's being used.
Actually the bike is 28 years old first registered in March 1995, and I am the second owner. According to the gentleman I bought it from it was the very first Biposto delivered to the UK. He told me that he had a Strada on order but when Ducati announced the Biposto he changed his order. When it arrived in the country he got a phone call to say it was here but he couldn't have it for a couple of weeks because it was wanted for publicity and magazine photos. Obviously I have no way of verifying what he told me but there is no reason to disbelieve him. He also owned an ex Dick Emery (ooh you are awful, but I like you) Z1 Kawasaki and showed me the log book with him as the previous owner.
First registered March '95? Interesting. What's the official build month under the seat? Reason I ask is according to Falloon the early Bipostos for England were built in... *coughVarese*
@TNR Unfortunately mine doesn't seem to have this sticker, perhaps it was US market only? My chassis number is more than 1600 earlier than yours though.
Yes I've seen that on various plastic parts = 10/94 Had assumed it was just when the parts were moulded and could have hung around in the factory for an indeterminate amount of time?
Fair enough. Frame headstock opposite the Vin also has 2 numbers signifying year and week of manufacture. Again, just curious because those 193 "1994" bipostos are either mythical or no one has come forward to say they have one. Appears there may be no way to tell apart from typical early 916 parts.
