Crap! Supersport S 2019 Last week I decided to set off to Oulton Park for the BSB test day, half a mile into my trip I had the 'HI' water temp flash up on the dash. Pulled over, switched off ignition and sat for a few minutes, keyed in again, still showing the same so I freewheeled back to my home at the bottom of the Cat and Fiddle and put bike in the garage. On starting it up again it initially showed 'Lo' as usual then the temp started to climb. When it showed around 60C I used my laser engine thermometer on the radiator and it read 80C. Kept it running and then dash temp was fluctuating and jumping plus and minus 20 or so degrees, fans kicked in when dash and laser both read around 103C but would kick out when the dash reading jumped back down 20 degrees. Faulty Water Temp sensor it is then! Ordered new part from Ducati Coventry (£32) and it arrived on Tuesday. Had already stripped left fairing, dropped coolant, removed a couple of hoses and removed the reg rec from the battery and pushed to one side to get better access to the WTS. installed new sensor, put hoses back and refilled coolant. Switch bike on and it initially showed 'Lo' but when I started bike up, 'Lo' was replaced with flashing dashes and the CEL came up and fans wouldn't kick in when laser thermometer reached 104C. Plugged in my laptop and used Melcodiag to get the code and it read thus. U0155 [BBS] CAN-instrument panel data lost Checked that code with MY21 workshop manual doing the rounds which reads U0155 CAN communication error with the dashboard control unit [DSB_Data_01 message timeout] Apologies for the long post but any help in diagnosing this would be appreciated, money is tight at the moment but I will take to a dealer if I cant rectify it myself. TIA
Fingers crossed, I took my Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner out of my car and used that to reset the ECU fault using Torque Pro, (melcodiag failed to do that) and at the moment it's successfully going through a heat cycle with temps marrying up to my external thermometer.
