Spidi Vs Held

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by RC1, May 29, 2023.

  1. I need a new one piece. Currently a furygan dark apex. Had a spidi 2 piece in the past.

I'm not doing the bespoke route and have narrowed options to held slade 2 or spidi track wind pro. The latter looks sexier but Ive always like held for its quality and no frills attitude to things.

Before anyone suggests I'm not doing any airbag suits and I'm not considering other brands so all you alpinestars, dainese and rst fanboys walk on!

    Anyone any experiences to share?

  2. I've got a set of Held Race Evo, I had (and still have) a set of Ixon Galactica for about 13 years before that. Tried all other brands, including airbags, felt the Held's offered the best protection without having to spend a fortune on optional better protection inserts. They are very comfortable, the leather quality is very good, but not crashed them so can't comment on that side of them. I also have a pair of Held gloves for chilly days, again good quality and fit (for me)

  3. ok great thanks
should note that my furygans are crash tested so all good in that respect
i am wearing back and chest protection. wish i had the chest protection before i had a little incident

  4. I always used a separate back protector, but couldn't use a chest protector in the Ixon's as no room. My Held's have a Cat 2 back protector included, and Velcro for a chest protector (the only protection not included), I bought the 2 piece chest set up, inbuilt room for them, so comfortable.

  5. It probably will come down to fit. I nearly bought a Track wind Pro a couple months ago. Spidi fits me pretty well, but I decided against it as it is a relatively old model. I liked the Supersonic Pro a bit better, slightly newer tech, and fit was same. I ended up with a Revit Hyperspeed 2, but I'm using it with a TechAir 5, and there wasn't adequate room for stretch in the Spidis.

Can't comment on Held, but both companies have a good reputation.

  6. Been wearing held for years. Very good stuff.

my last suit got crashed in 5 times, two of which were over 100mph

the only negative in my book with held is that they’re fairly heavy. And the airbag is a clip in at the moment (you’re not interested in that anyway).

Protection and quality wise I would say they’re one of the best on the market

  8. I have a Held Slade 1 piece, great suit, crashed in it at around 80ish, no damage to me other than pride, slight scuff to the arm and back of the suit but that was it!!

  9. I’m curious: why did you rule out made-to-measure?

And what made you narrow it down to the Slade 2 and Wind Pro suits?

  10. bespoke is out of budget for me which is less than 800. im happy to buy a used suit or to wait for a deal.
ive had a few spidi things and the quality/fit has been decent
chosen the above 2 based on what i have learned about their fit, protection, how made, tech, where made. in that order.
