Belgian Ardennes - Update Of Road Condition Sort

Discussion in 'Touring' started by johnny, Jul 8, 2023.

  1. Hi Folks

Back in 2003 when I first started touring Europe we would visit the Ardennes in Belgium for the twisty stuff.

It had this in abundance, but the road surfaces were not great. Have things improved in the last 20 off years?
    Any recommended roads routes?
    Thanks

  2. I was there 3 or 4 years ago, didn’t have any problems with road surfaces but the police presence on the ‘better’ roads was plentiful. Some of the locals warned us of roads to avoid due to the police waiting to catch British riders.

  3. Was in the Ardennes and Luxembourg less than a month ago on the way to Germany. Most enjoyable part of the trip TBH. Roads were good, a few rough patches but in the main excellent surfaces. Have been a few times previously, once with a group from this forum, would like to return, stay in the Ardennes and spend a week there exploring the area further. The weather in mid June helped for sure. Germany, apart from the Harz, was a bit meh.

  4. Thanks everyone. We would tour around Lux and Belgium and a lot of time there would be a line in the roads from Snooker table to third world track when you crossed the border. Interesting to hear the Belgium cops are getting fruity,

I have been nicked twice in Lux by static camera, all for 5-7 klicks over the limit. Last time the letter arrived at home on the Tuesday following the previous Saturday offence. I wonder how manyl EU states have purchase the DVLA database?
