Thinking of adding a tourer to the ‘stable’, probably for the occasional long trip down country to visit family in Devon. Should I stay with Ducati? I’m attracted to @AndyST4S ST, but for less than half that I can have a similar age/miles Honda Blackbird. Has anyone had the latter? Any comment/recommendations?
I've ridden them. back in the day. Absolute motorway weapons - very stable and room for two. All day up 100mph cruise machines... But a bit sterile
A tad heavy moving them about, I’ve had three and loved them been all over Europe on them.never had any issues of any kind. And I didn’t give two hoots about servicing nor maintenance back then. I just flogged the guts out of them.
Hiya, I'm not sure where you're looking but for half the price of my ST I'm seeing Blackbirds with 3x the mileage, or spares/repair. Both bikes can take the miles, but I don't think there's genuinely the price differential you're suggesting.
in the same situation , been doing a few long trips ,using a 400n superdream ,mate is on a pan euro, which is too big , had a look at the blackbird , but might be a bit too heavy.VFR800 is now on the list ,or possibly a older tracer 700.Want something cheaper that I can use for longer trips and commute on and not worry about using throughout the winters
That Blackbird looks a snip, if it checks out and is genuine. They are seriously quick, though a bit heavy and slow steering. Not an issue for motorway work though.
Went for £1350. I was very dubious and didn’t travel to view it, due to the vendor’s reluctance to respond to requests for basic info like service history etc.
I nearly said be careful with bikes from that area. Bit of a reputation for ringers and mingers…but did not want any abuse
