not sure who might have a Schuberth C5 helmet ... but this is my 4th Schuberth, and i really love them ... they just keep getting better and better with each subsequent model (except for the C4 ... it was a turd) ... and in all of these models i have owned, i have wanted to explore using earbuds connected up to the comm system, as opposed to the built in speakers. i took the Sena 10R-A0101 Earbud Adapter Cable and my C5 up to a friend’s house, and he managed to get the built in speaker wires untangled from the menacing "white plastic knob". this is no small deal, as on the various rider forums i have seen threads for this conversion, everyone is complaining about how the North America model C5s wiring is impossible to pull free enough to use the Sena 10R-A0101 Earbud Adapter Cable. the secret is, you need to push down on the wire to provide slack underneath the white knob of death ... then, carefully twist the wire away from the outside of the helmet, and into the foam ... then gently pull the wire up and free. we successfully installed the Sena 10R-A0101 Earbud Adapter Cable, tested the earbuds to make certain no wiring was damaged during the wire removal ... then we notched the neckroll plastic "bib" and filed the plastic smooth so it does not chafe the Earbud Adapter Cable ... then buttoned everything back up. as they say on the interwebz ... photos or it did not happen ... so here is the completed installation. sorry. we did not take photos of the wire pulling, as i believe others have posted sequential installation photos. i am very excited about this mod/upgrade ... for now, i am going to use inexpensive earbuds from Amazon, as i use the comm system for GPS nav instructions, radar detector warnings, and the occasional phone call. i might upgrade the earbuds later on, if i decide to start listening to music. the first 4 photos are from a thread on the modification at https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/headphone-jack-with-schuberth-c5-with-sc2.1573689/page-3 and step by step instructions: 1) Remove the neck pad. 2) Find the speaker wires that are already installed in the C5 helm. 3) Plug in the 10R earbud pigtail. 4) Tuck the wires neatly in between the helm's foam liners and the shell. 5) Notch the neck roll's plastic gasket with some side cutters to accommodate the earbud pigtail. 6) Reinstall the neck pad. 7) Have a bourbon, a Scottish, or/and a beer "Well I ain't seen my Baby since I don't know when". the last 2 photos are of my C5 with the mod completed.
update ... another C5 owner who has done the earbud mod has run the connector out the front/side of the helmet, rather than the back/side. this makes for a more eloquent solution, as the connectors are now tucked inside the helmet, away from the elements. View attachment 301081
