999 999 Build/rs Swingarm

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Otter, Sep 24, 2023.

  1. Wotcha I don’t post here often but some of you will know me as the admin of the 999/749 owners group and be familiar with this bike.

I’ve been building (some would say f**n up) this bike over a period of 6 years now and only recently after acquiring the unicorn full titanium 749RS Akra system have I gone full send on the homage to the RS replica route.

It leads me to the next thing I want to upgrade. The swingarm! As lovely as the stock 2nd gen swinger is, I love the look of the RS/F, Pieribon, Bursi versions.

So what do people know about them? Share any pics or experiences with fitting them. Is there anything available? Perhaps you have something gathering dust on a shelf somewhere that would make my year .
    Ha I can wish right?

  5. Very nice. If I had the choice of another bike it would be an early 916SPS or a 999R.

  6. Cor jeepers. I don't think I'd notice an RS swingarm amongst all the other goodies. If it's worth anything, I have a feeling that the box section swingarm we saw on the 2004 999R and then everything in 2005 was on the WSBK in 2003 at least. The production bike version is slightly shorter I think. The "race" version was a DP option in 2003.

The RS arm has a larger diameter axle. So I think you'll need a RS wheel. Sprocket and disc may be different too.

  7. just call it an RS ......works for the modded 749 crew.
