1200 Multistrada Map Sensor

  1. Thought I'd just post this for reference.
    Bike displaying "errors" ...."engine".
Got melcodiag connected up ...yep horizontal MAP malfunction.
Got the sensor off the bike noticed water in the input pipe on the sensor....gave it a whiff of airline and water blew out .....gave the pipe same ....refitted faults would now clear and errors no longer on dash display.

    Cheers
    Gerr

  2. Good result:upyeah:

  3. Update..one hundred miles later bike briefly displayed the error again ....then cleared.....bike had been fine all day. About 3 miles later bike became unrideable. It ticks over ...starts ...however any load whatsoever it misfires cannot pull away. If I'd had tools with me I would have disconnected the sensor hopefully making the bike throw an error again and might have been able to ride the bike home.

Was recovered by breakdown truck on Salisbury to Wilton road yesterday evening.

So I'll replace the sensor. I will do some checks on it out of curiosity using a fast evap cleaner and check output voltage Vs vac.

A few bikers stopped to see if they could help get me drinks or food etc ...as they'd noticed I'd been stuck there for a few hours. Nice young lady stopped in car also asking if I was ok....can she go get drinks for me etc. Renews faith in humans. One guy on a Triumph rocket stopped ...said he'd reluctantly got rid of his Diavel due to electronic unreliability ....MAP sensors. upload_2023-7-21_9-32-23.gif

  4. Hopefully you can get a non-Ducati-priced replacement! My Hyper ones are Bosch - advertised at half the price that Ducati dealer wanted...

  5. I think the hyper and multi ones are different......I'll check part numbers
Would deffo use a Bosch one if I could ...

  8. Mine failed on my ‘13 Multi, from recollection it was about £80 from MotoRapido?

  9. Just messing with the sensor off the bike .....At atmospheric pressure I get 3.8v
.....max vaccum using the syringe 0.5v
    .....max pressure using syringe 4.8v
No idea how much vac/pressure as no gauge.

Think I'll go do something useful...like buy a pizza and wine

  10. are the rubber pipes ok?
and check your connections on the photo
    1 ground, black/purple - Bk/V, 2 power (5V), brown/purple – Bn/V, 3 signal generated, green/white – G/W

  11. Yep ....I got the connections from the manual.
The sensors initial failure mode was an absolute fail and showed an error on screen. ....bike knows sensor failure so it enabled a a workaround such as ignore and use the other sensor.........
To sensor not an absolute fail ....so bike not aware ...showed no error ..so it's using incorrect input and making bike unrideable. ....

I'm guessing that if I could have disconnected the sensor at the side of the road ...it would have been an absolute failure so I would have been able to ride home on some get me home mode ...

So when I replace the sensor I'll fit the new one in a more accesble position until I'm sure fault gone away ...then if it gives me any shite again I'll be able to disconnect and ride home.

  12. Never seen melco showing Map sensor data ...... doesn't work on mine .....looks like vert not playing  .....

  13. Thx man. I dont know what should i see

  14. Did you get any error codes on melcodiag ?

  15. No, nothing. I made a video was the problem is. Just a sec

  16. The bike has a problem?

  17. Yes, see video, sometimes, only when the engine is warm, has no power on full opened throttle, sometimes everything is fine.
