My Fork Conversion.. A Bit Strange Any Ideas

  1. ÖHLINS FG 8500 used at 748R/998R.
Forklegs on the inside are different to ÖHLINS FG 8851 and the brake calipers move 5mm each side to the outside.
so you have to use 15mm offset brake discs.

ÖHLINS FG 8851 for example from 998FE 996R and some others.
There you have to use the 10mm offset discs.

The difference is the inside of the forklegs.

    Look at the pictures!

You can also see it from the outide.
The mounting screws from the brake calipers also moved more outside at 748R/998R

  3. He's just adding to the database. Noice.

(says me with fg43 6bolt 108mm calliper brackets on a 916 running 998r discs and an offset spacer with GSXR brembos m4's...find me 100mm brackets ffs...)

  4. Very handy thread!

I sold my FG43’s a couple of years back (stupidly) and PX’d them against a set of Ohlins. When I came to build the bike back up again (‘02 748R) with the PX’d forks, I soon realised they were FG8851’s. The wheel fitted up fine, but obviously these won’t work with my 15mm offset discs.

Now this thread has confirmed what the forks are from, I’ll put them up for sale in the coming week, unless someone has a set of FG43’s they want to PX :joy::joy:
