Hello all ECUs have a lot of info printed on them but not the part number i.e. 28641771A. Above part number is a standard ecu as fitted to the 09 1098R [Red and Bayliss] but not the 08 1098R. Is there a way to associate the info on the ECU with the proper part number. Thanks
Use the JPDiag Database https://jpdiag.akress.com/modelselect.php If you search 1098 it will show you all the 1098 ECUs. The later bikes tended to use the software version and not the map ref. You can also compare the info on the TuneECU map library https://tuneecu.net/Ducati_Tune_list.html
Another source of info is by searching the parts fiche. Be aware that Ducati love to issue revisions. They usually do this by changing the last digit of the part so A becomes B, B becomes C etc. E.G your example 2009 1098R was 28641771A but is now 28641771F. In 2008 the ECU ref was 28641581C. To confuse things further JPDiag Database show the part number was later changed to 28641661A. You can tell earlier maps as they of a lower numerical value. These numbers are great for ordering parts but no use if you want to identify a map for a later bike as Ducati did not use the map refs (there is an exception with the DP ECUs). The ability to reflash maps to second hand IAW5AM ECUs make map refs more relevant. I use a couple of sites https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/ and https://www.ducatiomaha.com/pages/ducati-oem-parts
