Can anyone tell me how to get the fuel pump out i have taken off the plastic clip so all i am left with is the pump sitting in the rubber housing tried wd40 and a lot of pulling by hand but it is stuck any tricks on how to get this out?
There’s a clip on the plastic moulding, one on each side. You can see them in your picture at 9 and 3 o’clock positions. Squeeze them inwards and the unit should lift out.
It took me about three weeks recently to remove my one. The 1989 original pump was corroded onto the rubber sleeve and i used a broken hacksaw blade to slowly cut away bits of the sleeve until the pump came free..
Shhh !! Don't let @West Cork Paul hear you saying that .... ..... he holds some kind of bizarre record , with his epic nightmare involving a front sprocket .
Just in case... https://www.stein-dinse.com/en/search.html?grp=&searchStr=82910772B Soz my mistake - wrong part number - that fits the 888/916. Hopefully useful for someone!
I got my replacement bits from... Fuel pump support ring (motorworks.co.uk) They were for a 52mm pump.. The pump mount [plastic] P/No...TAA64629 The rubber mount........... P/No...FUA64628 The gauze filter............... P/No...SIA55126 HTH...
Thinking of it's place in Internet Folklore history, i would consider putting that image on a T shirt Paul.
Yes indeedy ! ..... and maybe with a few thumbnail images of skinned knuckles , and burned fingers ...... But when it comes to the swearing and the tool flinging ..... .... well that's much more difficult to put on a T-shirt ......
