Good day. I am pleased to be a new member here. I have a 2012 MTS1200. I developed piston slap at 66,000km last fall. I currently have the top ends off in the frame and am attempting to reassemble. I have sourced all the parts and special tools and instructions. I have a question about the ring placement. Original Part number was superseded so one ring in the new set looks different (I believe its the 2nd ring). The new second ring is completely squared in a rectangular profile whereas the original ring has a STEP cut out of it on the bottom side. New rings have markings on the top and I understand they always face up. Top ring should have an inner beveled edge and second ring no bevel. The confusing thing is the second ring says "TOP" on it but the top one does not. I am 99% certain I have this correct but any assistance in confirmation of my understanding would be appreciated. thx.
Also has anyone completed a top end rebuild on the MTS1200 in frame? Super tight space on the Vertical side cylinder/head @ frame. The circlips are super hard to get in generally but in that location impossible? Wondering if there are any suggestions or should i just rotate the engine down (pivot the engine down from the swing arm bolt). Trying to avoid removing the engine completely. thx.
