996 Clutch Plate And Springs

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by cookster, Jan 8, 2024.

  1. Hi guys my clutch plate and springs look crap basically, all works OK but feel they could be more pleasing on the eye, where can I get some stainless springs and a new clutch plate??

    Cheers.

  3. Carbon moto do a stainless steel kit. I used it on my 998S.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. Stainless springs are a good thing, no more rust though you may find they're stronger than the originals.

As for the pressure plate, I just spray paint mine black - looks good and for a fraction of the price.

  9. looks good in red!

  10. Just put a standard clutch cover back on it, no see - no foul o_O:joy:

Seriously though, the steel plates can be cleaned if the friction material is still good. The pressure plate could be vapour blasted, and new springs are easily available.

  12. It was @bettes who suggested painting it a few years ago, glad he did saved me a few pounds on a new one, I will be doing the same for my 900ss

  13. I remember doing one in black many years ago, and of course looked good but I didn't realise red would work so well on the std plate, the webs set it off don't they?

  14. I see what you mean by webs, the red gives a bit of definition as generally with anything painted black it has a habit of hiding any.
