Usa Insurance For Uk Bike

  1. Looking for a point in the right direction...

I'm planning to visit the USA in April 2024 for a 3-month motorcycle road trip. As it's certainly more cost effective to air freight my UK motorcycle for an extended trip like this, I would like to know how I obtain the appropriate insurances. I've fired out 5-6 emails to US insurers but no responses as yet.

Any recommendations for US based insurers that can provide the cover needed to be 'squared away' for riding in the US?

    Many thanks in advance.

  2. Speak to this company

When you get there enjoy the US police brains going into meltdown trying to understand how you can ride a motorcycle registered in another country in their U S of A. Make sure you drop the Geneva Convention of 1949 when you hand them your UK driving licence and International Driving Permit.

  3. Thanks Chris,

Three insurers have responded at it doesn't look to be too much hassle.

Seguro Gringo offer basic 3rd party only for around £300. No theft cover!
Motorcycle Express offer fully comp for around £700
Thum Insurance Agency are happy to quote and have experience in this area.

Overall, nowhere near as difficult as the rumour mills make out.
