999 Carbon Panels…mk1 Or Mk2

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Chiff69, Jan 17, 2024.

  1. Hi guys….

I Brought some 999r panels to go on my mk2 999s….yes mental! Got them pretty cheap…they needed a respray.

my question is….can anybody tell if these are mk1 or mk2 panels?

I want to install the mk2 nose (I’ve brought one) if the panels are mk1, would a mk2 nose fit?

I know I could just swap them around on bike…but I’m rather busy at the min so thought I’d pick your lots brain before doing it.

  3. Nice one….mk1 panels…..would the mk2 nose fit

  4. Cannot help you on that. I know you need to fit the wider mirror stays from a MK2 if you go from MK1 to MK2 nose cone.

  5. I have done the same with a 2005 dark, I’m in need of the narrow mirror stays if you want to swap, as I have a mk1 nose.
From memory it should fit, it’s just the mirror stays as chrisw said.

  6. I have the 2005 mk2 999s…so fingers crossed it’ll all bolt on nicely, as it’s allready got the larger mirror stays on it

  7. I’ve just bought myself some aftermarket mk2 fairings to fit my mk1 999 and when reading up before ordering to check fitment I found a couple of posts on forums saying a complete fairing kit would be interchangeable between mk1 and mk2 bikes but mk2 side panels won’t fit mk1 nose cone or visa versa.

For reference I don’t believe my mk1 has ever had the mirror stays replaced but the mk2 nose cone does fit.

  8. Right side is 2003, left is 2004-2006, nose is 2005-2006. Sides have been repainted, the Testastretta decals are wrong.

All R fairings are the "wide" type, matching the mirror stays on the facelift non-R models.
