Steering Damper Anti-theft

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by mikeerhymes, Feb 20, 2024.

  1. Hi All

After I had just fitted a nice new steering damper (thanks @Conquest Racing Ltd) I stumbled across a photo of another setup where they had used security torx bolts rather than the standard hex. I hadn’t thought about it prior but are steering dampers likely to get stolen, is it a common thing? Probably a daft question really as anything can be stolen!

    Cheers

  2. If you are worried about it use security torx bolts. Buy good quality bolts though.

  3. I’ve not heard of dampers being stolen but I know led headlights and tft screens are getting targeted by scumbags as they are high value and easily taken.

  4. It's worth it for the sake of two screws.

  5. If I wanted to steal bike parts I'd have full set of bits with me. Just saying.

  6. When I have used steering dampers that were visible on top of the tank, I always used anti-theft screws. On my Multistrada though, its tucked in on the bottom yoke so barely visible. That just has ordinary allen screws in there :)

  7. Was going to write something similar, you can get screw heads that only go in, can't be withdrawn, but you'd then have to drill them out to remove the part if you ever needed to....

  8. I would need 6 by the looks of it, the ignition barrel nuts looks like a show stopper ‍♂️
