Yet Another Fuel Warning Light Question.

  1. I filled up the tank of my Monster 750ie to the brim, rode it the half mile home and put it in the garage overnight. The next day when I started it up the low fuel warning light came on and the low fuel message appeared on the RH LCD panel. I’ve ridden it a couple of times since to let the level go down a bit (it was very full) thinking this might have something to do with it but it’s still coming on.
Should I just put a bit of tape over the warning light and rely on the odometer as I usually do or should I start investigating the sender unit in the tank?
I’ve read a fair number of similar posts on here but wondered if I was perhaps missing something obvious. Thanks

  2. I don't know what sensor your bike uses but if it's still the old thermistor that older bikes like my 916 are using than they are prone to failure. I replaced mine with a 1KOhm thermistor and that works well. They cost about 40p. Ali express do sell a thermistor in the metal housing for about a fiver.

  3. More on this - I was out for a run yesterday and, coming home on the motorway, I went over a large bump and just at that moment the fuel warning light went off. The bulb still works as it comes on when you switch on the ignition so I can only think that the sender unit has somehow healed itself. I’m so glad it did when it did as I was all set to shell out around £150 for a replacement one.
