^^^Your choice / preference obviously, but in my experience, having had this very same issue with a 2010, 2014 & 2018 variant, all using a mixture of UL & SUL on an every other fill-up basis, it made no difference whatsoever. I think, as long as my memory serves me correctly, my current 1260 MTS is on its second replacement, making it three in a life span of just under 5-years.... Now how's that for quality control and designing out an obvious defect in manufacture?
It's seriously time that owners made a stand. Clearly a shit part. My local dealer tells me the same. It's a flawed design that's bound to fail to rubber and petrol not being the best of friends.
I understood it’s the solder that decays in the sender. There’s a vid on eBay about it. Long job repairing it though.
Just had mine done on a 2017 - 1200 Enduro, so 6.5 years to failure. Was a type C, now replaced with a type F. Not sure what the difference is, but hopefully won't happen again, although I will either syphon the fuel tank empty (or completely fill it ) prior to next winters SORN?
I think I posted in another thread, it may be helpful for others but when I store the bike (longer than a month or so) I put in ethanol treatment into the tank which so far (touch wood) has kept me from the dreaded fuel sender issue. https://www.goedhartmotoren.nl/moto...m_medium=organic&utm_term=241473&gad_source=1 I use this as the high ethanol content of modern fuel eats away at rubbers and plastics. Probably not a problem on our modern bikes, but again, I've had no issues since I started doing this.
I’m on day 4 of a six day trip round the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest and my fuel sender has started to play up today. It’s a 2020 1260s on about 6500 miles and Snell’s Alton already replaced the sender last year under warranty. I can’t believe it, I’m interested to see if the ethanol treatment helps, do any others of you do this please?
Its’s really weird, I’ve used super unleaded all the way through too so it can’t be that causing the issue. I’ve just got a bottle ordered so hopefully that will cure the issues, though I rather fear I’m into another fuel sender. The bike’s also developed the back brake issue on this trip, bringing the error code up on the screen thus disabling cruise control. Not having a lot of luck! Thanks for the tip.
Hi Guys, I may be late to the party, however, I also had this problem on my Multi (2016). I always use fuel conditioners from a website called "Powerenhancer", since using this product, https://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/product/archoil-ar6900-p-max-advanced-petrol-synthesis/ I can put the most basic unleaded fuel into the bike and the additive brings the quality up (I believe) I have not had an issue since using the product ,that may be coincidental but the product description does talk about "Lubrication" of the fuel system. Hope that helps someone!
