Hi Monsterheads, My stock Yuasa battery won't charge above 11v on the tender. I replaced it about 5 months ago and the battery dealer has offered to take a look at it and replace if necessary. I do a lot of short journey's over the winter, suspect that has not helped. Oddly it has not skipped a beat all winter but this weekend the bike wouldn't crank. There is a tracker on it but it is a very light draw. If I remove the battery for a few days will there be any dealer reset / ecu issues that needs to be performed on reconnection or i'm good to go. Thanks in advance, Ian
Exactly same for mine, short journeys over the winter then battery shot. Bought a replacement and popped it in myself, not too difficult, wee bit fiddly due to battery location but doable if you want to save a few quid and do it yourself
@Pete433 yes I know your pain i've done that job before ! but i've always swapped the replacement battery straight in hence my question. Are you running lead acid again or did you go lithium ?
I went like for like mate, I don’t want to buy a lithium charger is the only reason. I’ve already got about half a dozen other charges so don’t need another
@Pete433 Exactly the same, feels like i've got a vintage collection of Optimates ! @DarR thanks for the response. I was going to go that route but apart from the weight saving, which i'm not that bothered about, I wasn't sure if it was worth doing it. The guys who sold me the the AGM exchanged mine for me ( strongly recommend CPC Batteries in Surbiton btw) and the lithium Antigravity was 300GBP plus i'd need another charger. The guys at CPC said the battery had sulphated. I was doing short journeys over the winter but leaving it on the tender. Will see how this one goes but not sure I could have done much more to look after the battery. If anyone needs a few tips on removing the OEM battery from a 1200R PM me, there are a few tricks to make it easier.
Different model but same concern. I removed the battery from my 07 S2R1000. Since refitting it the immobiliser is playing up. I can’t reprogram/ turn if off as I doesn’t flash a required number of times to allow me to enter the key code. have checked the antenna (was new last year) and earth on ecu. All ok. Any suggestions? thanks
Some alarms/immobilisers require you to put them into a service mode before removing the battery so this kind of thing is prevented, might be worth removing/disconnecting the battery again and see if it will work afterwards, worked for me a while back.
