V4 Why ... Has The V4 Got Different Engine Colours On Each Side?

  1. Seems odd .. can someone more clever than me tell me why it's yellowy/bronzy on one side and silvery/grey on the other ???

  2. Is it a magnesium clutch cover perhaps?

  3. Apparently, it’s what the Italians call style.

It’s not, plain painted aluminium. I thought it would piss me off, but realising I’m unlikely to ever look at both sides at the same time, I’ve realised I’m ok with it.

I did consider getting the clutch side colour matched, but it feels like it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

  4. Take the plastic cover off the cylinder on the left and remove the foam (it holds water and damages the case)

  6. Is that easy to do ?
    Seems a surprising issue....
    Thanks for the heads up.

OK - found some more info ..

  7. Funnily enough the dealer said this to me when I asked the question a couple of years ago:D

  8. To be honest I'd not noticed, until now. Thanks for pointing it out o_O

  9. I was told that it was done so our friends across the pond could tell which was right and which was left. :joy:

  10. Louigi, in charge of right side engine components orders paint code Au

Giuseppe, in charge of left side engine components orders paint code Ag (should have been Au but after a bottle of Vino at lunch he doesn’t care).

    Never the Twain shall meet.
