Wrong Colour On V5?

  1. Guessing this could be an alert on a HPI check, how much of an issue to get it corrected?

  2. just fill out the correct colour on V5C and send it off to Swansea

  3. Its quite common with bikes. I've had several over the yrs. Never changed them. No one gives a toss.

  4. I had a 916 which showed the manufacturer as Dodge, the DVLA didn't want to help me.

  5. Someone must have chosen too early from the drop down list.

As for colour as others have said, just request a change in the V5.

  6. I changed the colour on one of my bikes from blue to red , log book said red but if I did a mot/ tax check online it still said blue for years after.

  7. Thanks for all the replies.

  8. DVLA are like the British weather really changeable and you're never sure what you're going to get.

My latest car log book took 5 weeks to be issued. Similarly I've had them arrive in days.

I once changed the colour of a car and heard nothing back, but a quick call resolved it. Another time I wanted to advise them of an engine and capacity change, but was told this would be impossible without a full engineer's report so left it as it was.

    Goodluck!

  9. This is on a Ducati I'm interested in, the model only came in red so as long as the chassis number matches the V5, I guess there's no concern.

  10. It's worth asking the owner, so that at least you know why, but I wouldn't let it put me off on it's own.

  11. My 916 had a slightly incorrect VIN on the V5. which took some doing to correct with photos etc.

My Panigale R is still listed as black!

  12. I got the engine number on the V5C 851 SP3 corrected (someone had entered a "5" instead of an "S"). No problems, just sent the incorrect document to Swansea and it came back corrected pretty quickly. This link should help:

    https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-details-registration-certificate

If it was me I'd get the document corrected, especially as it's so easy. Removes any potential issue in the future.

  13. I've never had a problem with changing a bikes colour, just fill in the relevant V5 section & send it off.

When I've done engine changes though they usually ask for the engine manufacturer's spec sheet, to prove the capacity & the new engine number.

  14. Thanks again. Not my bike at the moment, but it is a Panigale R listed as black.
