I am trying to fit a lever guard on 996, but I can’t seem to get the bar end cap off, so before I start dismantling the throttle could somebody help and let me know the process. Thank you
Brute force. It’s a push in friction fit. You might be able to drift it out from the opposite end but if not and you don’t want to remove the clip on, resort to mole grips and twist it out
If you have enough room to access via the other end of the bar you shouldn’t damage it with a blunt rod. If not they are very cheap to replace from your dealer.
I bought some new oe grips , the throttle comes with the throttle tube , cannot find anything in the Haynes manual or online but any tips on how to remove and replace the throttle tube?
From the photo that’s a cable operated version so undo the throttle cable housing (2 screws/bolts), disconnect the throttle cable (having made note of how it was attached) and then the old tube should just slide off (once the bar end is out of the way). Slide on the new one, reattach the cables (fiddly), make sure they’re seated correctly (fiddly) in the housing and reassemble the housing
