My 10,000 mile multi needs a new gear change rubber, not because I’ve been ragging it on track days or even in the mountains. yesterday I noticed it’s wearing a mark in my boots. is this an OEM only thing ?
Probably not but you will need to faff around finding one of the correct size. Balance the cost you might save with the time needed to sort it out, against the price of an OEM part from your dealer. If you do faff around and find an alternative, please let us know, the OEM ‘rubber’ has a pretty short life Andy
I just ordered one from MotoRapido £6.24, in 45 years or so of motorcycling it’s the first gear change lever rubber I’ve ever changed!
In a 9000 mile year on my Multistrada 1200, I’d have to change the rubber at least once. Used to buy them in bags of 10 Andy
Just changed the gear-change rubber on my 1260 Multi after 23,000 miles. It has a triangular internal shape so it's probably OEM only.
I have this on my V4 .. Purists might say it's sacrilegious .. my boot was getting scuffed up - now it doesn't and it's more comfortable. Just slides over the top of the current rubber thingy.
I got my little rubber thingy threads mixed up ! Great service from Craig at MotoRapido, delivered by postie this morning and fitted ready to rumble !
I found it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oldbones-Motorcycle-Shift-Lever-Protect/dp/B07VKRNL49/
