Sfv4s Trackbike

  1. Hey All
Last summer, I had the loan of a SFV4S from DUK to use at Silverstone for a couple of days as our normal Panigale V4's were away with Ducati being prep'd for the DRE days
I absolutely loved it, and although it obviously wasn't as fast as a Pani, I had way more fun on it and loved every second - I probably did 200 laps on it too.

Since then, I've wanted one and have now decided that it's time I bought one to do trackdays on now my racing days are long gone, and my son seems to have stolen my race bike as his own practice bike :(

Anyway, my question to you all relates to upgrades.
The two things that I hoped I could improve were the rearsets as the standard ones are just too low, and hopefully some advice on a small screen as as much as the Nakedness of the bike made 'fast' feel 'really bloody fast', my 48yr old neck and shoulders really didn't like the pressure of sitting up at 170 at the end of the back straight and trying my hardest to hold on for dear life rather than bracing my weight under braking.
Do the aftermarket little screens offer much protection in that department, and can anyone recommend one ?
Also, I take it any V4 rearsets will fit the Streetfighter, and it's an easy enough task to convert to race shift ?

I can't see a huge amount of changes in the model years, and I'm not sure my budget stretches to a brand new one, so was looking at 21/22 MY bikes. I take it the later model mods are minor and it's just the marketing that will make you believe it's a game changer ?

Sorry, one last question : Am I going to get any issues with running a 125/200 slick combo on it, and will the 125 front fit ok under the mudguard with a tyre warmer ?

    Cheers for any advice

    Graeme

  2. On the OEM rearsets, you just move the link rod bolt to the other hole in the gear lever to convert to race shift. I had Rizoma rearsets on mine and was not impressed with them. Blingy and not well designed IMO. No idea about the tyres.

  3. Got a larger screen fitted which helps at higher speed, however getting “bobble head” over 140mph which could have come from my helmet (Shoei). Tyres, mainly run Metzler Racetec TD slicks and Bridgestones Battlax R11s. 120/70 Fr on both.

  4. Hi all
Finally got a bike this week. I’ve only done about 15 miles on the road on it so far, but the roads aren’t for me, so I doubt I’ll do much of that again :)

I have a couple of quick questions if possible please :
Do the V4 panigale wheels swap straight in, as I’ve seen more sets of pani wheels for sale than SF ones

also, I’ve heard the pani v4 rearsets at the same fitment as the SF ones, but slightly higher ?

it’s got its first track outing on Thursday at Doni and I’ve also booked the Ducati day there in sept, before going off to Spain with it in Oct

  5. A set of GB Racing or R&G engine covers might be worth investing in.

As far as I'm aware both the V2 and V4 Pani wheels fit.

  6. The rear off the V2 is smaller with a 5.5 inch width as opposed to 6.0 inch on the v4. It will fit but narrower tyres.

  7. Is that also the case with the v2 1199/1299? I use the wheels from my Pani R (1199) on my v4.

  8. No. The 1199/1299 have 6 inch rears.

  9. Fitted the GBRacing casing cover set this morning

  10. Needs better tyres and some rearsets to lift the ground clearance, but I really enjoyed it in track
The powerbronze screen is massive, but workds well, although I have the pyramid one to fit and try at some point
Road tyres were a bit pants, but I’ll fit some slicks for next time as I have some spare wheels coming this week
    A lot of fun though

  11. I found my track bike gave me better times using Metzeler Racetec RR’s. I never seemed to be able to keep the heat in slicks. Andy

  12. Looking good

  13. I've got an Evotech fuel tank protector (the underseat bit!) for a Streetfighter that's of no use to me. It's like new and you can have it for a tenner, posted, if you want it.

  14. Hi All
Does anyone know the rear brake Banjo bolt size and thread type please ?
I've fitted some rearsets, and they don't have the bracket for the brake light switch, so I need to source a banjo bolt pressure switch, but can't work out the correct size

  15. Had to fit a switch to my one of my bikes, but can't remember if it was the Panigale 1199 or the Panigale V4! Not got the bikes at home currently to check.
    Details;
Banjo pressure brake light switch M10 x 1.00mm ideal Ducati Aprilia
    Item number: 282913008482
Ebay Seller was Lucky 13 Racing Ltd but not sure they still do them. I assume the SFV4 is the same.

  16. Great, thank you

  17. Added some Spider Rearsets
They’re quite cheap in comparison to most offerings for a Ducati, but they’re good and solid and help raise the foot pegs by about an inch, and bring them back a fair bit, so a much nicer rider position
