So currently running in my restored 1998 916 engine for the next 1000miles. After that I plan to do a service, would you add anything to my list of jobs for this winter or even remove any that you think aren’t necessary. oil filter change Oil change Engine gauze filter clean.. Check tension of timing belts Check torque of cylinder head bolts Clean air filter fuel filter (not sure if this is too early and should do that next winter) cheers Jamie
replace all the fuel lines whilst doing the fuel filter if it hasn't been done already. had 3 bikes suffer split fuel lines so far this year lol
Fuel lines, filter, pump, connectors… oh and clean and seal the tank. It will then last another 25-30 years without issue.
If freshly rebuilt, I don't see why you'd need to check the head bolt torque or even the belts after 1,000 miles though the belts are easy enough to do. As for the fuel filter, I'd only be changing it after the right sort of mileage.
Ah ok so just an oil change then? I was reading the service manual and some of the above list came from there 600 mile check, but I guess as this was restored rather than built on a factory line then I should ignore them
