  1. Looking forward to Rugby Sevens, BMX and Surfing (at the legendary Teahupoo break!).

  2. Unsurprisingly, I’m feeling total apathy towards the whole yawn fest. Andy

  4. Well, looking at the surf report/forecast, we are not going to see olympians riding giant waves in the next couple days…

At least it will be « safe ». :D

  5. I think whatever happens a lot of people will become experts in a sport they've never heard of, for the next 3 weeks, which is the whole point of the Olympics :joy:

  7. Don’t worry, loads of folks are doing this daily all year long.

I must confess I had never watched rugby sevens until earlier this year when Dupont started training for the Olympics.

I just had to see what he was dumping this year’s Six Nations for, you see…

    :D

  8. I'd be good in the Olympics, I once came first in an orgy.

  9. Interested to hear any views from our cross the channel neighbours re hotel prices.
Two of my daughters have tickets for good events (one very good event) but both have decided not to go because the hotel prices are astronomical. They have had their tickets up for resale since May time but no takers yet. Be interesting to see how many empty seats there are.
Are the Parisions being slightly too greedy? Sacre bleu!!

  10. It’s a waste of money for all involved. London saddled us with debt while ripping out community housing to replace with expensive stuff. And imho track and field, swimming and gymnastics is as far as it should go for Olympic sports…at a push judo (modern day wresting)

  12. Not the normal Parisiens, no. More like the (already) wealthy ones, Paris officials, the government, making this their own personal little parade…

So my advice: do like the rest of us and stay clear from this city for the coming 6 weeks. And watch the Games on TV (if that’s the kind if thing you like watching).

  13. The infrastructure put in place far outweighs any decaying shit hole it left behind (I lived in Stratford for a bit in the late 90s I should know lol, it was as grim as it gets)
We should have a London 2012 every year just spread it around the country!

You might be interested in the list of events from Athens 1896 too

    Cycling and even tennis included!

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/189...result, the 1896,10 disciplines and 43 events.

  14. tbf it happens in every city certainly with large football events like CL/Europa league finals.

    was it an air bnb?

  15. I like France. But Paris? Non!

Like all European cities, massive security issues now. Paris likely the worst. After an incident in Brussels, Mrs Cringe won’t go another euro city break. Fine by me… kerching :D

  17. I was born and raised in Paris, and still to this day, after much traveling around the world, it remains the most beautiful and fascinating city ever. From a « non tourist » stand point, of course.

It is plagued with security issues due to the terror threat, but this is true for all western cities (and more) nowadays, unfortunately.

  18. We were staying in a posh spot. The hotel was gorgeous. Not so the the swarthy scumbags hanging around outside though…
