950sp Bhp Device

  1. So i bought the Hand held device from BHP UK. delivered next day but i didn't get chance to do anything with it.

First of all you need a PC or laptop so not quite as easy as the upmap device as you can use that on your phone.
They send you a email with download instruction for the software (this was simple even for me)
then you just connect the device to the laptop with cable supplied and update the device.
once that has finished you plug the device into the bike via euro 5 plug on mine and just follow on screen instructions, took about 2 mins to capture the standard map, this is then taken from the device and loaded back onto the laptop. You then send it off via email and they return a new map for you to upload to the device.
overall its sound like a faff.. but really only take a couple of minutes.

    Conclusion
the bike does run much better low down and does feel beefier in the midrange but i honestly couldn't tell the difference higher up the rev range. It also now doesn't chug if you're in a gear to high now.
i opted for a decat with standard cans map so just wanted it to run right and not lean!

It would be cheaper to the upmap route as both units are locked to the bike.
even cheaper to leave standard :) but we all know that isn't happening!

  2. Sounds a tad complicated for my little brain.
Best for me is to ride over there and get them to load it.Wanted the hand held in case the map gets wiped next time it's at the dealers.

  3. its sound complicated but its easy enough, and it will get wiped at dealers!

  4. Bit pricey when u considered there's no rolling road/they don't touch your bike at all. Surely a bespoke rolling road tune is about the same, possibly cheaper.

  5. You are probably right. They do own several 950's and have done extensive runs with lots of different combinations.
But a bespoke tune for your bike will always be best.

  6. Hmm what do you think Paul? Should I get the device or since am that way get a full dyno map?

Also does the device allow you to reset the service light?

am currently decatted and a fairly free flowing exhaust so a remap seems like a must.

i just dunno if its worth a dyno vs just the device, and do I need another map if i wanna throw on baffles?(heresy I know)

  7. BHP say the bike runs very lean, so if you have mods i would get mapped ASAP!
You tell them your mods and they send you the map for it, If you change i would assume another map would be required.

Not sure about service light. It does ask you as part of the install if you want to run error correction!

it is steep 500, Depending how far away you are from them might be easier to get on the dyno and mapped.

I only have a decat but i would say i can run a gear higher now at any given speed than before so the midrange has improved.
