bit of advice please. I have a chance to buy a darmah sd in barn find condition. very dusty and bits in boxes. The owner took it off the road 10 years ago due to he thinks a problem in one of the heads. I believe it is all there but just needs a winter spending on it. i accept the potential costs but what is a bike like this worth so i know what it offer. I owned one 25 years ago and still have tools to work on it.
Probably worth 10-12k in full working order and good condition. Prices have been dragged up with SS prices. So I guess you could work your way down depending on how much work it needs. As long as you can rebuild the engine yourself then rebuild costs are reasonable
Agree with ducv2 although people have quoted a little higher for mine at around 15k. Be careful in assessing what work does need to be done mind - 'bits in boxes' sounds ominous. And 'a problem with one of the heads' more so. And for now, lets not worry about the crank & main bearings, ho hum... It wouldn't surprise if it needs a rewire along with the bosch ignition pick ups & associated wiring are also shot. If it's fitted with original contis offer a grand and sell 'em for double
