Hi, I have just taken my 698 for its first service at Ducati Leeds, I was totally stunned by the bill, £287!!! I took my M1000XR to marshal BMW in May for it's 1st service and it was £147 in comparison. How much are you guys paying for your first service?
I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I took my monster SP for its first service. £171. Still silly for a bit of oil and a filter. £15 further filter and £7 to dispose of the old one. £8 for brake cleaner ??
Fully synthetic oil £15-20 a litre. Oil filter £10. Hours labour as the service is more than just changing the oil. £170-200 looks about right. Oil disposal is I think £80 for 600l
My mutley V4s 1st service was cheap as chips ( relatively! ) As was the 2nd one. Probably the cheapest bike I’ve had in service costs. Suspect the DesertX might be a bit more :/
That’s harsh pricing, my GASGAS 700SM was £180 for its first service. They only swapping out the filter and oil and checking if anything is amiss.
As a general rule I’ve been told that plugging into Bologna from the dealer is at least 40 minutes so not quite that simple these days. Electronics are a brilliant tool to have on the bike but the testing of them is not a 5 minute job. My first service on my Desert x took 1.45 hours I think from memory.
Not sure I stated it was simple however. I’m sure whilst that plug in is processing the mechanic/technician isn’t just stood next to the bike waiting for the 40 minutes to time out.
First service books at a flat hour, same as the oil service. These are published times by Ducati as part of the "transparent maintenance" plan. The whole idea of them is to "level" up the servicing costs and allow the customer to get a good idea of servicing costs. Labour rates can/do vary, parts and oil should be in the same ball park wherever you go. The bike being "plugged in" shouldn't have a bearing on the time charged IMO. It doesn't stop other work being done.... I can't comment for other workshops etc. but as a guide, the service would have been about £175 at Cornerspeed.
