Does anyone here know what is the function of this plate (part#1) and special screw (part# 2) that is part of the 998 throttle body part diagram? I am guessing it is some kind of restrictor (power limiter)? Below are the pictures of the actual parts (the plate was painted red by me):
@998s FE This was used as a mechanical power limiter for 998 bikes in France, where power was limited to 100 hp back then. It is still the case today for non ABS equipped bikes. When I imported my 998 Matrix from the Netherlands to France, I had to get one of those added to the bike by a Ducati dealer with an official certificate before I could register it and get a plate.
No problem @998s FE If you have no use of it, you may consider trying and selling it on our side of the pond. Some people may need one for a newly imported 998. PS: Notice the shape of the “special screw”? It was meant for the dealers to snap its head off once the plate was in place thus making this restriction irreversible. Most dealers used a normal screw, though, as people would want this to be reversible (road to track, for instance). But that was illegal on the road. The limitation was never really enforced by law enforcement units. However, in case of accidents, insurance companies could be difficult…
