Absolute masterclass from JD. I still had to watch through my fingers though. Box set to record MotoGP as BBQ time here now.
If that’s what makes moto gp exciting I’m out. Absolutely shit weekend from start to finish. Well done Jake for keeping my interest going.
Well that threw some spanners in the works ! Plenty overtakes, incidents, not exactly spectacular. Not up front anyway after Martin got through. Alex on Baggy incident, just looked the usual two racers claiming a corner as I cant see how Alex could back out at the point he realised he was there.. Points make championships. Baggy playing catch up again.
Imagine getting told you’ve got a new sunglasses sponsor and you’re like oh yeh rayban? Oakley? Sweeeeet. And then you open the box…
The data never lies!! Francesco Bagnaia: Alex Marquez “tried to make contact, impossible he didn’t see me” | MotoGP | Crash The Italian added that data shows Marquez’s throttle remained open during the incident, which occurred as they fought over third place late in the grand prix, and suggested the Spaniard tried to make contact. “My view is the view of everybody that has a normal point of view in terms of racing, because it's quite clear what happened,” Bagnaia told MotoGP.com. “He was wide, I was in front with much more speed. I entered that corner without closing the line because I knew he was there. But my speed was enough to overtake him without any problems. “And as soon I entered the [next] corner [13] I heard his engine opening. He was opening the throttle. So he was trying to arrive to this contact. “I wanted to look at that data... He remained with 60 percent, 40 percent of throttle open until when he crashed. So this is very strange by a rider, I think.” Told that Alex Marquez said he couldn’t see Bagnaia, the factory Ducati rider responded: “In my opinion, it's impossible that he didn't see me. I was already in front of him before changing direction.”
…and it only becomes a problem when someone hits the deck. Baggy in particular was very lucky. Surely though, a racing incident. There are moves like that by most riders, Baggy included every race weekend. Racers do not want to give up a place and normally it would just be a bump of fairings. Not that I am a particular fan of either rider tbh. though I do appreciate the huge talent that Bagnaia clearly has. The last time there were truly malicious looking moves on track I am sure there was another Marquez involved..
Sat on a sofa, miles away from the track, the collision was, IMO, inevitable. Possibly naive of me but I cannot believe Alex Marquez, in cold blood, deliberately risked both his and Pecco’s life for 3rd position. An error of judgement in the heat of fierce competition, yes but Alex is not his brother. Andy
Just my opinion for what it’s worth, but I don’t think it was a case of AM seeing FB but more of a case that he wasn’t looking for him. AM just seemed to me to be focussed on this and the next corner and FB thought AM would yield.
AM won’t have seen him. Simple as that. If you’re hanging off the bike and eyeing the next turn, you can’t see what’s the other way. Remember Rossi and Edwards smacking into Simoncelli? They didn’t see him.
Well he would say that, wouldn’t he. And I am sure AM will have his own opposite point of view. The thing is, moaning about it post race is going to achieve nothing apart from more bad blood. Stewards have already ruled and no action is to be taken. Move on. All the commentators on Discovery+ said ‘racing incident’. It is not the first time a coming together has occurred when the inside rider could not see the outside rider due to body position. Had AM left the track and was rejoining then it might be considered differently, but he didn’t. He only ran a bit wide.
I suspect it was another result of the terrible and irregular track conditions where it was one line all the way round. Half of them weren’t even getting their knee down in some of the sessions. Shit weekend if you like watching bikes go fast.
Definitely agree he doesn’t want to get caught up on silly conspiracy theories especially as they’ll only be one winner next year if he does that. Crash dot net always like to make things sound 100x worse too.
I thought it was Marc at first and ‘oh look not giving any room and knocking someone off again’ as that’s exactly what it looked like. Alex doesn’t seem to ever do that, so you do wonder…but tm me it looked like he should have rolled out and didn’t and was responsible
Am I the only one that saw this the other way round, I'm in no way an AM fan, as vanilla GP riders go, he is as Cornish as it gets, for me it was more down to Pecco, he hadn't cleared AM's front wheel and he knew that AM would have to come left yet would have been unsighted as he was hanging off the right of his bike. Fully agree it was a Racing Incident but even as a Pecco fan I was looking at that going 'what have you done fella' ... Anyway, onto Misano ....
